Johnson County Green Party Business Meeting

We confirmed that the Johnson County Green Party would would offer funds to help pay for the Iowa Green Party bulk mail permit. We will ask Treasurer Kelley Putman to send a check for $100, 2/3 of the cost.

Plans for weekend's PeaceFest:

Members chose national Green Party statements from several samples and made plans to get copies and materials to the park and staff the table.

Discussion about current elections:

The school board election is Septemebr 13th. The Johnson County Democrats posted a candidate questionnaire at their website; we will forward the link to the Johnson County Green Party listsev and urge people to vote.

We discussed the possibility of hosting our own candidate forum for city council candidates after the primary. The tentative date is October 19th. We will reserve a room at the Iowa City Public Lirbary, and also, look into the possiblity of holding this at the PATV studios. We will also see if other groups may be interested in co-sponsoring. Possibilities suggested were Environmental Advocates and the Johnson County Labor Party.
